Beach Hair

If you've been reading Kiss My Smash you know I've been looking for ways to add curls or waves to my hair without actually picking up a curling iron. I've tried pin curls  and I've tried the sock bun method. Neither of those really worked for me.

While on Pinterest I found this great pin from Swell Style Blog

The instructions and supplies were pretty simple so I gave it a try!

All I needed was salt, conditioner, coconut oil, and a spray bottle.

I started with one tablespoon of salt.

Then one tablespoon of coconut oil.

Next,  I added one tablespoon of conditioner.

Finally, I poured in two cups of hot water and stirred until all of the ingredients were thoroughly mixed.

I filled my baby spray bottle and put the remaining supply in a mason jar for safekeeping.

After a shower, I dried my hair for a few minutes so it was damp but not sopping wet. I sprayed the concoction all over my hair and twisted medium sized sections.

My hair is very fine so I had to continue to twist the hair to keep it in a twist while it air-dried.

When it was completely dry - this is how my hair appeared.

I don't know what you see - but I don't see beautiful beach waves.

There was some cute curl to it - but not as much as I was hoping for.

I couldn't really shake out all the twists. I attempted shaking out a few twists but they just fell flat and straight.

If I was to do this all over again I would probably start with almost dry hair. Then I would spray a TON of the salt/oil/conditioner mixture in my hair. I would get the dampness from the mixture - rather than plain water. Also, I would probably only do two twists,  one on either side.

Learn from me and my mistakes. I think this is still a worthy idea. I will be trying this again. Let me know if you give this a whirl!
