Shed Some Light

This week has been focused on baking so I thought I'd take a break from the food and showcase a really fun craft.

You may remember awhile back when I showed you what glitter and Mod Podge could do with the post Sparkle Shoes.

After seeing a similar idea for a light switch plate on Pinterest, I decided to give it a go.  (I don't have a connected link to the inspiration, it was a broken link.)

I unscrewed the plate from the wall and gathered my supplies.

I taped the screws to the back of the plate so I wouldn't lose them. This turned out to be a great idea. I didn't lose them!

Next I poured a small amount of Mod Podge in a plastic cup, and mixed it with my glitter of choice.

The first large portion of glitter was not enough, so I just kept on adding more and more.

Finally it was enough!

I applied a nice thick layer of glitter Mod Podge, but made sure to smooth out any clumps.

Next I sprinkled dry glitter atop the glitter Mod Podge while it was still damp.

I was super bummed because I had so much Mod Podge left over. I had nothing else to glitterize so it was all wasted Mod Podge and glitter.

I let the switch plate dry overnight.

The next day I applied a layer Mod Podge.

I tried my best to keep it smooth, as this will be the top layer. I still struggle with overdoing it with the Mod Podge sometimes. I just keep adding more and more, and before you know it, it's thick and clumpy. Less is more.

Another 24 hours later - TA DA! I have a sparkly light switch in the 'Get Ready' room. I love how this room is getting girlier by the day.

I love it! Let me know what you think! Don't forget to 'Like' Kiss My Smash on Facebook!
