I'm absolutely, 100% crazy about tutus. If I could wear a tutu, as an adult, I would. In fact, I sometimes do.
You must forgive me when it comes to the photos of this project. I was NOT feeling well when I made this tutu. I was snuggled up on the couch with my cozy zebra blanket.
First I cut a small section of elastic.
Next I hand stitched the elastic closed into a loop.
Next I cut one inch wide strips of tulle.
(Well GB's sister KC was over and was taking care of me. She helped with the cutting. She can cut straight line, where I struggle with that.)
I made them double the length of what I wanted for the tutu. I chose two shades of gray and yellow. I thought it'd be fun to use colors other than pink. Besides, the mommy I made this for doesn't seem the pink baby overload type.
Next I looped the tulle strip.
The next thing I did was wrap the loop around the elastic and pull the remaining tulle through the loop.
Repeat over and over.
Wahoo! It's starting to look like a tutu!
Lonnie was really excited. He told me he wants a tutu, too. Not sure how Daddy will feel about that.
I'll be sending this to the happy couple with a white onesie and some cute tights. I think that will help the yellow pop out. If baby girl is ever photographed wearing this tutu - I'll be sure to share it with you!
